Cat vs Cafe (70/30)
Like Visiting Mom (If She Had Lots of Cats): Review of Cats Club
Cleverly hidden on the 16th floor of an apartment building, this sweet little cafe is worth the effort.
We took the metro to the Xiaozhai stop (which is on both Line 2 and 3) and left via exit 'C'. Next to the exit is a Starbucks on the left and an alley on the right. Walk down that alley and on the left is a hotel lobby-like entrance. Enter building 'B' which is called City Center International Plaza and take the elevator to the 16th floor. Follow the long hallway (seems strange, but keep going) to room 1631.
We were greeted by a kind Chinese mom (whose husband was also working that day) who seated us and took our order for two lattes. The menu does not have English translations, but she definitely understood 'Cafe Latte'. Other patrons were drinking tea or iced drinks and all were beautifully presented, especially our lattes (see photo below).
As we sipped our coffee, we noticed that the cafe, while quite small, was cozy and clean, and nicely decorated with cat equipment. It was a busy place as all the tables were filled with university-age young people.
We counted seven cats, including a British Shorthair, a couple of Exotics and a couple of long-haired lovelies. Most of the cats appeared to be happy and healthy, but one poor kitty seemed distressed and kept standing at the door, yowling most pitifully.
Our drinks were 30 yuan or $4.35 each. Overall, a different kind of cafe that worth a visit for the novelty factor of the location.
