Cat vs Cafe (80/20)
Cute & Quirky: Review of Cat Tail
The neighborhood was hopping.
Adjacent to Dotonbori, the neon-lights filled tourist district known for over-the-top entertainment, I was fighting the spillover crowds when I saw the sign for Cat Tail.
When I entered the cafe, things changed quickly as the first thing I noticed was the xylophone lullaby music playing overhead, which is definitely a first in all of my cat cafe visits!
The second thing I noticed was the cats. Beautiful cats, but oh my, there were a lot of them in a small space- I think I counted twenty.
There are three rooms at Cat Tail and after placing my order for iced tea, selected the one with the biggest and fluffiest kitties. Two young ladies were already in the room, blankets and sleeping felines on their laps. While there are benches and small tables, the cafe encourages sitting on the floor with a blanket if kitty cuddles are what you seek.
I did this and had a couple of takers, but I sensed several of the cats are a bit 'over it' when it comes to people and perhaps are in need of a break from the cafe scene.
The staff of Cat Tail are friendly and I enjoyed visiting with them about the cats- they clearly have a lot of affection for their charges. Be sure and check out the books with the cat biographies which are filled with personality details and humorous anecdotes.
Despite the enormous number of cats, the facility was clean and calm and provided a pleasant escape from the chaos that is Dotonbori.
